SI JV Men’s Basketball Season Update With Pascal Savant ’25

Pascal Savant '25 (far right) gets in the zone with his teammates

Men’s basketball is a big sport at SI, but almost all of the attention goes to the varsity team. The JV team should not be overlooked, however, because they are having an outstanding season so far. As of 1/27, the men’s JV team is undefeated, with an impressive record of 18-0, including a big win against Sacred Heart in the Bruce Mahoney at USF.

To help shed light on the team, I interviewed sophomore guard Pascal Savant to learn more about the great season they are having. Regarding the team’s high level of play, Pascal said, “in practice we’re super competitive because we’re all really good basketball players...we go at it.”

Outside of practice, he mentioned how “we’re already friends, so it’s just another thing to do with each other, to play basketball.” It seems like their internal competition has paid off, because while there have been a couple of one score games, most of their victories have come by a large margin. The team’s average margin of victory through 18 games is 22 points.

“I think we’re dominating our league...no one can really stop us,” Pascal noted. With only a few games left, the JV team looks to close out the season strong.
